Invading College Falls 39 to 0 Before Touchdown Rush of Boise

BOISE, Idaho – Boise Junior College Broncos turned loose far more horsepower than Gooding College could handle at Public School Field Friday afternoon and rolled up a crushing 39 to 0 victory, for the second Boise victory in two weeks.

Shaw, the Boise Junior College quarterback, started the onslaught by leading a march to touchdown after the first kickoff. Thereafter, Shaw, Cantlin and Shelton, took turns at the quarterback berth and shared in the honors of ramming over the six touchdowns made during the game.

Gus Urresti was his old self when it came to blocking out tacklers and nearly every man on the Gooding squad had bruises when the game was over to tell of violent contacts they had made with the Broncos' blocking fullback.

Shows Improvement

The Boise team showed great improvement since a week ago in blocking and ball carriers were given good opportunities to reel off gains before being touched by tacklers.

Quarterbacks skipped through wide holes on tackle plays, Nalley, halfback, found good openings on reverses and the Bronco passing attack clicked for good gains when it was called on.

Gooding Unable to Gain

Gooding, from start to finish, was stopped dead, making sure one first down in the first half, made possible by a 5-yard penalty, and adding two more in the second half on a passing attack which was too inconsistent to be a threat. Hollywood, Gooding quarterback, did most of the work for Gooding, having better luck on his punting and passing than on running plays.

Boise Junior College scored twice in the first quarter, the first time on a 65-yard march led by Shaw with Shaw making the touchdown on an 11-yard run. The second score came after Shaw ran wild down the field and Urresti plunged for the last two yards.

Pass Brings Touchdown

In the second quarter Cantlin took Shaw's position and was the sparkplug in a march which brought a touchdown when he heaved a long pass to Nalley, who fell across the goal line after plucking the ball out of the air with two Gooding men practically surrounding him. Shelton went in to give Cantlin a rest and single-handed carried the ball half the length of the field on a series of plays to count up the Broncos' fourth touchdown for the first half.

A pass from Shaw to Goddard scored an extra point after the first touchdown and Urresti kicked goal after the fourth score to give the Broncos a 26 to 0 lead at halftime.

Boise scored again in the third period with Urresti going over on a short line buck after a march down the field. Shaw tossed a pass to Stoddard for the extra point.

The last touchdown came in the final period with Nalley scoring on a reverse. The try for point failed.

Both teams used a flock of substitutes toward the end of the game.
