College Teams Will Dedicate Flood Lights; Boise Junior College Eleven Primed for Invasion of Squad from Lewiston Normal; Fray starts at 8

BOISE, Idaho – The first football game ever played at night in Boise will start at 8 o'clock this evening at Public School Field when the Lewiston Normal Teachers line up against the Broncos of Boise Junior College.

The game is sponsored by the Boise Junior Chamber of Commerce and is in the nature of a benefit contest, the proceeds from which will be devoted to paying initial cost of installing the flood lights. Music will be furnished by the city band and numerous surprise stunts are on the program. Throwing of the light switch will be part of the dedicatory ceremony.

The Bronco eleven has been working hard the past week and has spent the last night or so practicing under the lights so as to become accustomed to the white pigskin.

The Lewiston squad, 25 strong, reached Boise Thursday night too late for a workout, and took rooms at Owyhee hotel.

For the Boise Junior College, Cantlin, No. 50, or Shelton, No. 44, may be in at quarter instead of Shaw. All three are likely to see action before the night is over.

Several of the players have faced each other before in Big Ten conference high school games in this section. Young and Aschenbrenner of Lewiston Normal are former Nampa players, Mitch King is from Kerome and Claud "Pug" Kesler is from Fruitland.

On the junior college string, Uranga and Bruegger are from Boise, Stanley is from Rupert, Morgan form Nampa, Blue from Buhl, Carpenter from Eagle and Kidd from Burley. Stoddard is a Caldwell man.

Renewal of old rivalries is expected to add zest to a game already replete with possibilities.

Lewiston's record this year includes a 9 to 0 victory over Whitworth College of Spokane and a 25 to 0 loss to Cheney Normal. The loss to Cheney was a feather in Lewiston's cap instead of the opposite, since Cheney had previously defeated the powerful Gonzaga University team. Gonzaga had in turn downed the U. of I.

Under tutelage of Max Eiden, the Broncos have concentrated lately on passing offense and defense. They have worked out some slick and deceptive plays that should get results.

Gus Urresti, regular fullback, has been out for a couple of weeks with a broken leg. George Anderson, reserve fullback, is also out with an injury but otherwise the Broncos are in good condition and rarin' to go.

"We expect a tough game and will probably take to the air with passes," said Coach Max Eiden late Thursday.

After the football game a dedication dance will be given by students of the Boise Junior College at Talbot Gym. Alumni of the school are invited and grid players from Lewiston will be guests.
