Broncos Meet Ricks Saturday

11/1/1935 11:12:00 AM | Football

BOISE, Idaho – Expecting to play in snow and mud against a bulky Ricks College team that is geared to a gumbo field, 24 Boise Junior College football men will leave Friday afternoon by train for Rexburg where they will engage the Vikings Saturday.

Coach Max Eiden named his traveling squad Thursday evening. Men making the trip are: Lippa, Chilton, Carrier, Uranga and Griffin, ends; Weber, C. Naftzger, Hardin and Pittard, tackles; Blue, Piedmont, E. Naftzger, Carlise and Stanley, guards; Morgan and Borup, centers; Stoddard, Kidd, Nalley, Carter and Belsher, halfbacks; Shaw, Cantlin and Shelton, quarters, and Anderson, fullback.

Carpenter, tackle, is the only regular left at home. He has an attack of influenza. Stanley, a guard, has an injured shoulder, but will be taken along as a reserve.

"It looks like we are in for a pasting," said Eiden. "Ricks has a heavier team and has shown up much better this season against some hard numbers. The odds are against us."

Last year at Boise the Broncos defeated Ricks, 6 to 0.
