Pair of Broncos Play At Bulldog Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Freshman Cristian Hodel and senior Blane Shields represented the Broncos this weekend at the Bulldog Classic. The duo went a combined 4-3 in the tournament with Shields advancing into the round of 16.


Shields opened up the tournament with come-from-behind 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory over Luis Rattenhuber (San Diego State). He would advance into the second round and win another hard-fought match over Levon Brown (University of San Diego) by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2). Shields couldn't squeak out another victory in the round of 16 as he lost the match 6-3, 6-3 to Flavio Mollinedo (Fresno State).


Hodel went 1-1 in singles play with a first round victory over Andre Feliz (San Diego State) 6-4, 6-4. Hodel dropped a nail-biter in the second round by a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) to Charl Wolmarans (University of San Diego). The pair went 1-1 in doubles play, winning their first round match 8-1.


Another pair of Broncos, Kean Feeder and Clancy Shields, will travel to the ITA All-American Championships next week for the Broncos.
