Broncos Projected Fourth in MW

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State softball was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West in the preseason poll of league head coaches, the conference announced Tuesday. The Broncos garnered one first-place vote and 23 points in the poll. San Diego State was picked to repeat as champions, leading the poll with 35 points.

The Broncos return 10 letterwinners and five starters from the 2012 squad which went 34-20, including 8-4 in MW play to finish second. Boise State was picked to finish third in the preseason poll last season, its first year in the conference.

Among the returners are juniors Tara Glover and Devon Bridges, who were both All-MW selections in 2012. Glover was the Mountain West Co-Player of the Year and a third-team All-America honoree after leading the NCAA with 88 hits during the regular season and setting the conference and school records with a .476 batting average for the year.

The Aztecs were at the top of five ballots. Colorado State, which also finished 8-4 last season in conference play, was picked to finish second. The Rams picked up one first-place vote and 28 total points. Conference newcomer Fresno State was projected to finish third with 26 points.
