Boise State Tops Idaho 86-75 Behind Marks' Big Night

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Derrick Marks scored a season-high 31 points to help Boise State beat Idaho 86-75 on Tuesday night, at CenturyLink Arena for the Broncos' sixth-consecutive victory against their in-state rivals.

Nick Duncan scored 15 points, Anthony Drmic added 14 and Mikey Thompson 12 for Boise State (4-1). The Broncos outshot the Vandals 54.9 percent from the field to 44.6 percent. Boise State shot 62.5 percent in the second half and was 15-for-19 from the free throw line.

Marks was 10-for-16 from the field and 8-for-9 from the free throw line. In four games against Idaho, Marks scored 104 points and went 45-for-50 from the free throw line. He and the rest of his class is 4-0 against the Vandals. Boise State is 6-0 against Idaho under head coach Leon Rice.

Mike Scott scored 31 points on 11 of 17 shooting for Idaho (2-2), Bira Seck scored 16 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Connor Hill scored 14.

Idaho (2-2) took a 19-17 lead on a 3-pointer by Hill at 11: 37 but only managed one field goal the rest of the first half. Marks netted 12 points in a 14-5 run the Broncos used to end the first half and take a 38-28 halftime lead.

Hill hit another three to start a 15-3 Idaho run early in the second half to get the Vandals within one point at 47-46 on a Seck layup with 11:19. Boise State responded with responded with consecutive second-chance three-pointers. A David Wacker offensive rebound led to a three by Igor Hadziomerovic before a Rob Heyer offensive rebound led to a Marks three.

Heyer made his first start as a Bronco and played a game-high 38 minutes. He led the Broncos with seven rebounds and two steals, while scoring eight points.

Duncan scored his 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including five field goals inside the arc. He entered the night with no two-point field goals in the first four games of the season.

Boise State travels to North Carolina State for a Friday matchup.
