Boise State Trounces Hornets, 77-54

BOISE, Idaho - Chandler Hutchison (21 points, 12 rebounds) was dominant in securing his 15th career double-double (fourth of the season) as the Broncos (9-1) made quick work of Sacramento State (2-8) Saturday afternoon at Taco Bell Arena, winning 77-54.
Justinian Jessup continued his incredible shooting from behind the 3-point line in going 5-of-6, finishing with 18 points. The sophomore is shooting 54.9 percent from three (39-of-71) so far this season.
The 9-1 record ties for the best 10-game start to a season in school history and is the best since the 1988-89 season when the team also started 9-1. The victory also extended the team's non-conference home winning streak to 23 games - the longest in the Mountain West and 12th-longest in the nation.
Sacramento State scored the first basket of the game, but Boise State responded with a quick 9-0 run to take the lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the game.
Chris Sengfelder scored all 13 of his points in the first half and was huge during a three-minute stretch towards the end of the first in knocking down a pair of treys and picking up his first dunk of the season to give Boise State the 38-25 lead at the half.
The Broncos have held opponents to 30 or fewer points in eight of 10 games so far this season.
The Blue and Orange opened the second half strong and pushed it to a 20-point lead (50-30) at the 14:52 mark when Hutchison found his way into the lane with an in-and-out move, followed by a thunderous dunk - one of three in the half for the senior.
The play of the game, however, came later in the second half (8:16) when Alex Hobbs found Hutchison on an alley-oop off the fast break, bringing the crowd of 4,648 in Taco Bell Arena to their feet.
Boise State finished with six dunks on the day (three from Hutchison, two from Wacker and one from Sengfelder) and knocked down 13 3-pointers for its seventh game this season knocking down 10 or more 3-pointers.
The Bronco defense was equally important as the dynamic plays on offense, as Boise State held Sacramento State to just 38.2 percent (21-of-55) shooting from the field. Bronco teams under head coach Leon Rice are 50-5 when holding opponents to under 40 percent shooting.
Boise State will return to Taco Bell Arena for its final non-conference home game on Wednesday, Dec. 13 against the preseason favorite in the WAC, Grand Canyon. The game will tip at 7 p.m. (MT).
