Game Notes

THE GAME: Boise State (1-2) will take on St. Bonaventure (1-3), Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 5 p.m. ET at John Gray Gymnasium in the second round of the Cayman Islands Classic.

ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE: The Bonnies dropped their opening round game to Georgia State, falling to Georgia State, 75-65. Jalen Poyser leads St. Bonaventure in scoring at 20.0 points per game, as the team is averaging 72.2 per game.

LAST TIME OUT: Boise State shot 51.6 percent from the field (32-of-62), but Creighton was able to knock down 12 3-pointers and ultimately win the game, 94-82, Monday night at John Gray Gymnasium in the first round matchup. The Broncos (1-2) scored the first six points and led 35-32 after Justinian Jessup hit a 3-pointer with 3:16 left in the first half, but a 24-8 Creighton run from that point on ultimately gave the Bluejays the edge.

NEVER PLAYED BEFORE: The game will be the first all-time meeting between the Broncos and Bonnies. The matchup will also be the second game in a row against a 2018 NCAA Tournament participant for Boise State after having played Creighton.

The last time the Blue and Orange played back-to-back NCAA Tournament participants from the previous season was Michigan and Arizona back in the 2015 season at the Wooden Legacy Tournament (Nov. 27 and 29, 2015).

WILLIAMS GOES OFF: RJ Williams recorded a game-high 27 points against Creighton in the first round. Most impressively, however, was Williams' efficiency, as he was 11-of-15 from the field (73.3%).

The last time the Broncos had a player score 25 or more points and finish the game shooting above 70 percent was when Chandler Hutchison scored 44 points on 15-of-21 shooting (71.4%) against San Diego State (Jan. 13, 2018) last season.

GOOD SUPPORT: After Williams' 27, Boise State was bolstered by 15 points each from Zach Haney and Justinian Jessup while Derrick Alston chipped in 11. The four players combined for 68 of the team's 82 points against the Bluejays, yesterday.

EFFICIENT FROM THE FIELD: Boise State was extremely efficient against Creighton, ending the game 32-of-62 from the field (51.6% shooting). A big reason for that was the Broncos ability to get the ball in the key, as they finished with a season-high 50 points in the paint.

POSSIBLE NEXT OPPONENTS: Boise State will face either Akron or Illinois State in the final game of the tournament tomorrow. The Zips and Redbirds play the first game of the day today at 11 p.m. ET.
