WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK
- Boise State (16-9, 8-6 MW) is home this week for two big Mountain West Conference matches against Wyoming (17-9, 9-5 MW) and league-leading Colorado State (20-6, 12-2 MW), both contests will be in Bronco Gym.
- The Broncos open the week Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (Mountain) when they host the Wyoming Cowgirls ... Wyoming won the first meeting of the year 3-1 at Laramie ... this is a doubleheader with Boise State women's basketball who will play at 5 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.Â
- Boise State concludes the week on Saturday in the first contest of a tripleheader when the Broncos host league-leading Colorado State at 2 p.m. (Mountain) ... the Rams defeated the Broncos 3-0 in Fort Collins earlier this year ... both basketball teams will play in Taco Bell Arena following the volleyball match in Bronco Gym. Â Â

LAST WEEK, BRONCOS WIN TWO ON THE ROADÂ
- Boise State swept a pair of Mountain West Conference road matches over last weekend picking up victories at Fresno State in five sets and at San Diego State in four.Â
- Sabryn Roberts tallied a team-high 29 kills on the week, while Morgan Hughes added 22 kills and team-highs for service aces (6), digs (22) and blocks (15).Â
- Hughes was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week following her performances in the two victories.Â
- Roberts and Hughes tied for the team-high in kills during the Fresno State win, while Hughes tallied four service aces and 16 digs, both team highs, with five blocks.Â
- In the win at SDSU, Roberts recorded a team-best 16 kills, while Hughes chipped in with nine kills, a team-high two service aces, six digs and a career-best 10 blocks -- tying for the seventh-most in program history.Â
- The two wins clinched the Broncos their fifth-straight winning season at 16-9 overall and 8-6 in league, the victories also moved them into fifth place, one win out of tying for third.Â
BRONCOS BY THE NUMBERS
- Leaders: Sabryn Roberts leads Boise State with 3.79 kills per set (4th MW) ... Jessica Donahue adds 2.13 kps and team-high 1.4 blocks per set (2nd MW / 19th NCAA) ... Morgan Hughes averages 2.16 kps and 1.14 bps (9th MW).
- Team: As a team the Broncos are hitting 20.6 percent (5th MW) while holding opponents to 17.4 percent (3rd MW / 56th NCAA) ... they average 12.74 kills (7th MW), 11.96 assists (4th MW), 1.47 service aces (4th MW / 61st NCAA), 14.15 digs (4th MW) and 2.62 blocks per set (3rd MW / 30th NCAA).
KEY TRENDS FOR BRONCOS
- The Broncos are 14-2 when winning the first set and have not dropped a match after taking the first two periods going 10-0.
- Boise State is 16-2 when leading in blocks and 0-6 when trailing. Â
- They are 14-2 when having a better attack percentage.
- Boise State is 16-1 when holding opponents below 20 percent hitting and 0-8 when opponents hits 20 percent or better.
ROBERTS HITS 1,000 CAREER KILLS
- Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts is the 15th member of the 1,000 career kills club.
- Roberts currently has 1,248 career kills to ranked fourth all time, 33 short of tying for third.
- Roberts moved from ninth into seventh place for career kills at Boise State with 29 kills combined against San Diego State and Fresno State (Oct. 4-6), she started the year in 20th with 889.Â
- She moved into sixth over the week of Oct. 11-13 with a combined 24 kills at CSU and Wyoming.
- Roberts claimed fifth with 15 kills against Nevada on Oct. 25 giving her 1,210.
- Fourth place came after she tallied 16 kills at San Diego State (Nov. 3).Â
ROBERTS THE LEADER OF THE PACK
- Sabryn Roberts has led the team in kills during 22 of the 25 contests (including ties) to date, reaching double-digits 23 times and 20-plus in four matches, Portland State (20), Milwaukee (21), Washington (24) and San Diego State (20).
- Roberts also has a team-high 10 double-doubles (kills and digs combination).
DONAHUE, MASTER OF THE BLOCK
- True freshman Jessica Donahue has made a huge impact for the Broncos at the net recording 109 blocks to date.
- Donahue missed the first five MW matches before returning to action against Fresno State (Oct. 6) when she recorded a team-high seven blocks.Â
- She is currently eighth in the MW for total blocks ... second in the MW and ranked 19th nationally in blocks per set at 1.40.
- Donahue's 1.40 blocks per set average currently ranks fifth in program history.
- In her first collegiate match versus Long Beach State, Donahue set the Boise State freshman record for blocks in a match with 10.
- Her 10 blocks against Long Beach State is ranked tied for seventh in program history.
MORGAN HUGHES SERVING UP ACES
- Senior transfer Morgan Hughes has made an immediate impact on the team leading the team in service aces with 44 Â to rank fourth in the MW and 19th nationally.
- She is fourth in the MW and 19th in the NCAA for service aces per set at 0.46.
- Her 0.46 service aces per set this year ranks 14th in program history, while the 44 service aces in a season ranks 19th.
HUGHES ON THE BLOCK
- Hughes has also impacted the team's defense, she is second on the team and is ninth in MW for blocks with 108.
- She is second on team and ninth in MW for blocks per set at 1.14.
WYOMING MATCH PREVIEW
- The Broncos open week eight of MW play Thursday night against Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. in Bronco Gym. Â
- This will be the 26th meeting all-time with Wyoming leading the series 14-11 ... the Cowgirls won the first meeting of the year in Laramie by a 3-1 score. Â Â
- LAST TIME: Boise State's rally attempt at Laramie came up short as the Broncos fell in four to Wyoming 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 27-25. Boise State had two set points in the fourth period for a chance to force the contest to a decisive fifth, but could not hold on for the win as the Cowgirls came back on a 3-0 run to take the set in extra points 27-25 to clinch the match. Janell Walley was one of two Broncos to record a double-double tallying team-highs for kills and digs with 15 and 16, respectively. Sabryn Roberts earned her team-best eighth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs to go with one block.
- The Cowgirls enter this week at 17-9 overall and 9-5 in league, good for a third-place tie with UNLV
- Wyoming is coming off a road split last week falling 3-1 at Colorado State, then won 3-2 at Air Force.
- UW is hitting 25 percent (2nd MW / 37th NCAA) on the year and holding opponents to 16.8 percent (2nd MW / 42nd NCAA) ... the Cowgirls are led by Emily Lewis averaging 2.4 kills per set, followed by Halie McArdle at 2.36 ... Reed Copeland hits a team-best 34.5 percent (3rd MW) and leads in blocks at 1.60 per set (1 MW / 4th NCAA).Â
- The Cowgirls were picked second in this year's MW coaches preseason poll.Â
COLORADO STATE MATCH PREVIEW
- The Broncos will wrap up the week at 2 p.m. (Mountain) on Saturday in Bronco Gym against league-leading and defending champion Colorado State. Â
- This will be the 17th meeting all-time in the series which the Rams lead 15-1 ... CSU won the first meeting of the year 3-0 at Fort Collins. Â
- LAST TIME: Boise State came up short at Colorado State falling in three sets 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 in Fort Collins, Colo. Boise State started the match slow dropping the first set by 11 points, then regrouped to battle the Rams in the final two periods. The Broncos were led by senior Sabryn Roberts who hit 32.1 percent for a team-high 13 kills to go with nine digs and one block. Roberts moved into sixth-place all-time at Boise State for career kills with 1,155. Freshman Jessica Donahue followed by hitting a team-best 33.3 percent for eight kills to go with two blocks.Â
- Colorado State enters the week at 20-6 overall and 12-2 in conference.
- The Rams are coming off a home victory over Wyoming (3-1) and a road win at Air Force (3-0).
- CSU is hitting 26.7 percent (1st MW / 18th NCAA) on the year and holding opponents to 15.9 percent (1st MW / 22nd NCAA) ... Breana Runnels leads CSU averaging 4.1 kills per set (2nd MW / 37th NCAA) ... Hougaard-Jensen hits a team-best 36.2 percent (1st MW / 46th NCAA) and averages 2.59 kills and 1.28 blocks (4th MW / 38th NCAA) per set.
- Colorado State was picked to repeat as Mountain West Champions in this year's coaches preseason poll. Â Â
