Broncos Post Strong Showing at Nuttycombe Invite

sMADISON, Wisc. – Both the men's and women's cross country teams grabbed top five finishes at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, as the Broncos out-performed their rankings in a loaded field. The fifth-ranked women finished second at the meet with 91 points – second to No. 2 Colorado's 80. The No. 26 men took down 14 teams ranked ahead of them to finish fifth with 160 points.

For the men, it was the largest over-performance of any men's team in the field. Yusuke Uchikoshi led the men with a 14th-place finish (23:37.9). Miler Haller was close behind in 26th (23:48.5) and Addison Dehaven finished in 37th (23:53.9) for three top 40 finishers.

Jeff Lautenslager (45th) Elijah Armstrong (48th) and Ahmed Muhumed (49th) snuck their way into the top 50 as the Broncos utilized strong pack running throughout the race. Noah Horsburgh ran 24:22.4 to finish 86th.

The men's team, spread of 23.2 seconds between the scorers also ranked second in the field – first of teams that finished in the top 10.

In the women's race, Allie Ostrander led three Broncos to top 10 finishes. Ostrander finished in fifth, while Emily Venters and Clare O'Brien finish ninth and 10th, respectively. Boise State was one of two schools on the women's side to put three runners in the top 10. Alexis Fuller was the fourth Bronco across the line in 26th (20:17.4).

Maxine Paholek was the final score in 41st (20:35.9). This is the second-straight meet the freshman has been a scorer for the Broncos.

Boise State will have a second contingent of runners racing tomorrow in Salem, Ore., at the Charles Bowles Invitational. The full Broncos lineup will be back in action the weekend of Oct. 13.
