Boise State Rolls to Win Over NAU in the First of Two Meets Against the Lumberjacks

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State swimming and diving won eight of 11 events Friday evening as the Broncos claimed a 126-74 victory over Northern Arizona at the West Family YMCA and Boise City Aquatics Center. Abbey Sorensen and Robin Pinger led the Broncos with two individual race victories apiece to combine for half of Boise State's eight wins overall.
The win improved the Broncos to 8-3 overall on the year and increased their home win streak to 25 straight. The Blue and Orange will have a chance to extend it again on Saturday when the two squads square off again at 10 a.m. for Boise State's Senior Day meet. The Senior Day ceremony honoring seven seniors will begin at 9:40 a.m.
Boise State's divers claimed three of the top-four places in the 3-meter springboard to open the meet. Freshman Marti Erlam scored her second-best score with a 316.73, followed by Cassidy Bose with a 290.40 – her third best career mark – while Tatum Thompkins recorded a career-high 267.08.
In the relays Boise State's A team (Madesyn Ronquillio, Kailee Nabeta, Emmie Jennings, Cody Evans) won the 400-yard medley clocking a 3:52.26. Meanwhile, the Broncos three 200 free relay teams swam as exhibitions with the A team (Pinger, Lauren Vitort, Jennings, Sorensen) recorded the top time of six teams with a 1:33.43.
Pinger won the first of two individual titles turning in a 2:03.27 in the individual medley, then followed with a win in the 100 breaststroke tallying a 1:02.49.
Sorensen opened with a victory in the 50-yard backstroke with a 25.76. She also brought home the 100 free with a 50.92. Evans placed second in the 100 free turning in a 51.14 with Vitort (51.95) placing fourth.
Jennings won the rarely ran race the 50-yard butterfly by recording a 25.84. In all Boise State claimed four of the top five positions in the race followed by Emma Segneri (26.20) in third, Evans (26.37) in fourth and Ronquillio (26.73) in fifth.
Ally Kleinsorgen swam two backstroke races placing second behind Sorensen in the 50 back with a 26.33 before winning the 200 back clocking a 1:59.65. Ronquillio (2:01.63) and Georgia Zacest (2:03.98) followed Kleinsorgen in the 200 back by placing second and third, respectively.
Kaitlyn McCoy placed second behind Pinger in the 200 IM turning in a 2:06.71, followed by Laura Williams (2:09.13). McCoy also placed third in the 50 back with a 27.17.
Vitort was the top finisher in the 500 free with a 5:01.02 to place second, while Brittany Wen (5:03.85), Jamie Nats (5:04.44) and Ally Schultz (5:04.87) took third through fifth, respectively.
Laura Williams backed up Pinger in the 100 breast by placing third when she recorded a 1:06.27 with Zacest (1:06.29) and Nabeta (1:07.59) in fourth and fifth.
