WHAT'S HAPPENING

  • Boise State hits the road for its third meet of the year when the Broncos travel to the San Diego State Tri-Meet which will include Pepperdine. The meet will take place at the San Diego State Aztec Aquaplex starting at 3 p.m. (MT). 
  • BOISE STATE: The Broncos enter the week at 2-0 after sweeping Wyoming and Idaho last weekend in Boise ... they defeated Wyoming (Oct. 11) 186-108 and were powered by first-place finishes in 11 of the 16 events ... In the 221-78 win over Idaho (Oct. 12) the Broncos won 15 of the 16 events ... the two dual victories extended the Broncos' home win streak to 26 straight dating back to 2009.
  • PEPPERDINE: The Broncos will compete against the Pepperdine Waves for only the second time in program history, the first was during Boise State's inaugural season in 2006-07 when Pepperdine won 215-23 ... the Waves enter the weekend at 1-1 overall in duals and are coming off a third-place finish at the Malibu Invite last weekend.
  • SAN DIEGO STATE: The two Mountain West rivals will meet for the first time this season when they face off on Friday ... the Aztecs are 5-0 in duals and are coming into the weekend off a second-place finish at Fresno State's Chick-Fil-A Invitational last week ... this will be the 19th meeting in series history between these two programs with SDSU leading 11-7 in all competitions. 

BOISE STATE STORYLINES

COACH MABILE
  • Boise State is in its second season under the direction of head coach Christine Mabile who has guided the Blue and Orange to a 18-5 record in all competitions, including 2-0 in duals this season. 
  • Christine Mabile returned to her alma mater during the summer of 2018 to become the third head coach in program history, which is entering its 14th season in 2019-20.
  • Mabile is a 2010 alum of Boise State.
  • She did not swim for the Broncos as an undergraduate, instead she spent the four years as a volunteer assistant coach working with the team from the deck.  
  • Mabile returned to Boise State after two years as an assistant at Missouri, preceded by five years as head coach at the College of Idaho.
  • Joining Mabile on her first coaching staff are Jordan Lieberman who was an assistant at Cornell, as well as Brandon Blaisdell who returns for his fifth season as the Bronco diving coach.
ERLAM NAMED MW DIVER OF THE WEEK
  • Boise State sophomore Marti Erlam was named the Mountain West Diver of the Week on Tuesday after helping lead Boise State to a pair of season opening victories over Wyoming and Idaho last weekend by winning all four diving events to account for 36 team points. 
  • Erlam scored 300 or more points in all four dives on the weekend ... in addition, the dives on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards are the top-two scores in both events by any Mountain West diver this season. 
  • On Friday (Oct. 11) against Wyoming she opened the meet with a 316.80 on the 3-meter springboard, then followed with a career-best 307.20 to win the 1-meter dive by 20.55 points.
  • In the victory over Idaho on Saturday (Oct. 12) Erlam won the 3-meter by scoring 316.35 points giving her a victory margin of 34.2 points, she also won the 1-meter with 302.63 points a victory margin of 52.05 points.
EARLY STANDOUTS - DIVING
  • Only two of the three divers have competed at this time with Marti Erlam scoring 300-plus points in all four dives to record the top-two times this season in the Mountain West on the 1-meter (career-high 307.20, 302.63) and 3-meter springboards (316.80, 316.35).
  • Junior Tatum Thompkins has been solid as well already scoring career-highs on both springboards with a 306.08 on the 3-meter and a 267.15 on the 1-meter.
  • Both divers have already qualified for next spring's NCAA Zone E Diving Championships.
EARLY STANDOUTS - SWIMMING
  • Robin Pinger has won seven of eight events she has swam this fall including four individual titles and three relay ... she won the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley against Wyoming, in addition to swimming legs in the winning 400-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays ... versus Idaho she won the 50-yard free and 200-yard breast, then swam a leg of the winning 200 free relay.
  • Molly Hogg dominated the backstrokes on opening weekend winning both the 100 and 200 against Wyoming, then took the 100 versus Idaho while placing second in the 200. 
  • Lauren Vitort won two races versus Wyoming taking both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races, she also swam legs of the winning 400 medley and 200 free relays ... the sophomore was out touched by teammate Kaitlyn McCoy in her first collegiate 400-yard individual medley race to place second against Idaho, she also placed second in the 50 free and swam a leg on the winning 200 free relay. 
RETURNING SENIORS
  • Boise State returns five experienced seniors to this year's roster in Emmie Jennings, Jamie Nats, Robin Pinger, Alyssa Schultz and Georgia Zacest. 
  • Three of the seniors, Jennings, Pinger and Schultz, earned All-Mountain West honors as juniors in 2019. 
  • Jennings earned all-conference honors as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams ... she was also among the Boise State contingent that qualified for the 2019 CSCAA National Invitational Championships last March. 
  • Pinger earned six all-conference honors last year in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley, as well as being a member of the three relays the 400 freestyle and both medleys ... She was also among the nine member contingent that competed at the 2019 CSCAA NIC. 
  • Schultz was All-MW in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
RETURNING ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST HONOREES
  • In addition to the three current seniors who were All-MW, the Broncos return three others who received all-conference accolades in current junior Hayley Hill and current sophomores Marti Erlam and Lauren Vitort.
  • Hill earned two All-MW honors in the 500-yard freestyle and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
  • Lauren Vitort tallied two all-conference honors as well, they were in the 200-yard free and 800 free relay.
  • Both Hill and Vitort were part of the Boise State contingent to the CSCAA NIC. 
  • Marti Erlam earned All-MW honors on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards at the conference championships ... she reached the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships where her results counted towards Boise State's CSCAA NIC team score. 
WHAT'S BACK WHAT'S NEW
  • There are seven newcomers made up of one transfer and six freshmen.
  • Lauren Yon transferred to Boise State over the summer from Oregon State after the school dropped their program. She competed in the individual medleys, breaststroke and mid-range freestyles at OSU.
  • The Freshmen Class: Martina Andrasek, Emma Brady, Carly Palmer, Delaney Phillips, Anahi Schreuders and Beatriz Zoppei.
  • This year's freshmen class has an international flare with Andrasek coming from Croatia, Schreuders from Aruba and Zoppei from Brazil.
