BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State football team, coming off its second open week of the 2019 season, will travel to San Jose, Calif., to square off against San José State, Saturday (Nov. 2). The Broncos and Spartans will kick at 8:30 p.m. at CEFCU Stadium, and the game will be nationally televised by CBS Sports Network.

PLENTY OF TIME TO PREPARE
Boise State will be coming off an open week, generally a good sign for the Broncos. Boise State is 23-6 under Bryan Harsin with more than seven days to prepare for a game, including season openers and bowl games. Within the regular season, Boise State is 15-4 in such games.

This season, the Broncos won their opener at Florida State, 36-31, defeated Portland State on Sept. 14 with eight days between games, then, on Oct. 5, defeated UNLV after coming off of their first open week.

THE SERIES
Boise State is a perfect 13-0 against the Spartans all-time. The Broncos went 10-0 against SJSU while each school was a member of the Western Athletic Conference, and have won each of the two games as members of the Mountain West - 40-23 on the road in 2015 and 45-31 at home in 2016. The two first played a nonconference tilt in Boise on Oct. 14, 1978 - a 30-15 Bronco victory.

DO YOU KNOW THE WAY TO SAN JOSE?
While the Broncos are 13-0 all-time against San José State entering Saturday's contest, trips to the heart of Silicon Valley have served as quite the "start-up" for the Bronco offense. Over six previous trips to San Jose, the Broncos have failed to hit the 40-point mark just twice (a 23-20 win in 2006 and 33-16 win in 2008), and average 40.8 points per game.

AVOIDING CONSECUTIVE LOSSES
A win Nov. 2 at San José State would prevent Boise State from dropping consecutive games, whether in the same season or bridging one season to the next, for the first time since 2016. That season, the Broncos dropped the final two games, a 27-20 loss at Air Force and a 31-12 defeat against Baylor at the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl.

Only six times since 2001 have the Broncos had a slide of at least two games.

SACK ATTACK
Over the last-seven seasons, Boise State has recorded more sacks (271) than any other Group of 5 school, and is tied for eighth nationally with Washington behind Clemson (344), Ohio State (303), Alabama (299), Penn State (298), Stanford (294), Arizona State (285) and USC (274).

LIMITED RED ZONE CHANCES
The Broncos have allowed just 16 trips into the red zone this season, tied for fifth nationally with Clemson, Ohio State and Penn State. Only Georgia (11), Utah (12), Iowa (13) and Wisconsin (14) have allowed fewer trips into the red zone.

BOUNCING BACK
In each of the past two seasons, and thrice under Bryan Harsin (2014, 2017-18), Boise State has responded to a loss with a winning streak of at least seven games. In 2014, the Broncos dropped to 3-2 after a Sept. 27 loss at Air Force, and responded with nine-straight wins to close the campaign. In 2017, a loss to Virginia put the Broncos at 2-2, but Boise State ran off seven-straight wins to clinch the Mountain Division. A year ago, again at 3-2 following a 19-13 loss to San Diego State, Boise State once more posted seven-straight wins to clinch the Mountain Division.
