ABOUT UTAH STATE: The Aggies are in their 17th year under head coach Heather Cairns. During that time, Cairns has amassed a 160-140-40 record, making her the winningest coach in Utah State history.
CLINCH TIME: For the Broncos, who have already clinched a first-round bye in the Mountain West Women's Soccer Championship, the game Friday night has a little extra significance. With a Boise State win and a San Diego State loss or tie, the Broncos can clinch the outright MW title. Wins by both teams would see the Blue and Orange secure a share of the title for the second-straight season.Â
RECORD WATCH: Senior Raimee Sherle, who sits as the school and conference record holder for points and goals, has moved into second place in the Boise State all-time assist list with 16. She is six shy of the record set by Shannon Saxton at 22.
Senior McKenna Kynett made big moves in the Boise State record book. With her assist to Raimee Sherle, Sunday, Oct. 27, Kynett now sits in the top five for points with 44. She also moved into a tie for fifth in goals scored at 17 with her game-winning goal Oct. 20, at Colorado State.
With her game-winning assist to Emily Curry, Sunday against Air Force, senior Kristina Serres now sits fourth among Boise State assist leaders with 13. She is just three back of current teammate Raimee Sherle and nine off the all-time record.
MAKING HISTORY: The Broncos have rewritten the Boise State record book this season. With the win over the United States Air Force Academy, Sunday, Oct. 27 the Broncos secured their program-best 16th win this season. Their eight wins in conference play are also the most in program history.
SHUT IT DOWN: Sophomore keeper Sydney Smith has now recorded 11 clean sheets this season, which is tied for second most in the nation. It also stands as the Boise State single-season record, passing Tara Fisher's mark at 10 set in 2018.Â
Meanwhile, Smith has allowed only 11 goals against the remaining opponents. She recorded a career-high nine saves in the double-overtime loss to Utah, Sept. 8. That mark is the fewest goals allowed by a Boise State keeper in program history.
Smith is currently two shutouts shy of the all-time Mountain West single-season shutout record and tied for the most by a sophomore.
HIGH SCORING OFFENSE: In the Jim Thomas era the Broncos are 57-1-3 when recording two goals or more in a match.
MULTI-GOAL SCORERS: With senior McKenna Kynett's two-goal game, Sunday, Sept. 22 against Southern Utah, the Broncos remain undefeated in the Jim Thomas era when there is at least one multi-goal scorer. Boise State is 17-0-1 in such games under Thomas.
