Broncos Solid on Opening Day of Mizzou Invite

Nine Broncos and four relays score for Boise State earning 114 team points.
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Boise State swimming and diving had a solid opening to the Mizzou Invite on Wednesday scoring 114 points in the 10-team meet. Leading the way for Boise State were Lucia Davis, Hayley Hill, Katie McCoy and Marti Erlam who all recorded individual top-10 results on the first day of the meet in Columbia, Mo. Â Meanwhile, one 200-yard freestyle relay team placed eighth, while two Bronco 400-yard medley relay teams placed ninth and 10th.
The day opened with the preliminary rounds in the morning with the goal of each swimmer and diver being to advance into the finals tonight. Scoring for the meet goes to the top 16 finishers in each event, individual and relay races. Only the top two relay teams from each school can score. In all the Broncos had nine individuals score and four relays.Â
The Mizzou Invite will continue for two more days as Thursday's schedule includes: 1-meter springboard, 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard IM, 200 free, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and 800-yard freestyle relay. The prelims start at 9 a.m. (Mountain) with the finals beginning at 5 p.m. (MT).  Thursday and Friday's events will be televised live on the SEC Network.
Boise State's A team of Emmie Jennings, Robin Pinger, Lauren Vitort and Madison Frederick clocked the top time of the season for Boise State with a 1:33.27 to place overall and earn the team 22 points. The C team of Emma Brady, Jamie Nats, Madesyn Ronquillio and Anahi Schreuders placed 17th overall turning in a 1:36.66, good for 4 points (only two relays per school can score).Â
400-Yard Medley Relay
Boise State's top-two teams in the 400 Medley relay placed ninth and 10th respectively, led by the A Team of Molly Hogg, Pinger, Beatriz Zoppei and Vitort who took ninth with a  Boise State season-best 3:45.92, 18 points. The B team featuring Ronquillio, Carly Palmer, Brittany Wen and Jennings placed right behind in 10th with a time of 3:45.95, the second-best time for Boise State this fall and good for 14 points.
The 500 freestyle saw three Boise State swimmers score led by Davis who placed eighth overall out of 58 participants with a career time of 4:53.61, 11 points. Hill scored seven points with a 10th-place finish on a time of 4:52.95. Meanwhile, freshman Emma Brady placed 12th (5 points) on a career-best 4:53.45.
100-Yard Butterfly
Beatriz Zoppei led the Broncos in the 100 fly by taking 13th (4 points) overall out of 69 competitors with a career-best 55.31. Jennings was not far behind placing 14th (3 points) with a time of 55.65.
200-Yard Individual Medley
The Mountain West's leading IM racer this season is Katie McCoy who entered the race with the top time in this race within the conference. She placed ninth (9 points) out 47 swimmers clocking a career-best 2:00.43, beating her previous best by over two seconds. Â
3-Meter Springboard
Marti Erlam led the three-diver Boise State contingent with 301.95 points in the A Final to take fifth (14 points), beating her prelim score of 277.20 by over 24 points. Tatum Thompkins placed 14th overall with a 243.55 in the B Final (3 points).
