Redshirt senior forward A'Shanti Coleman led the Broncos with 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting, and eight, rebounds, while redshirt senior point guard Jayde Christopher scored a career-high 16 points with eight assists and six rebounds.

But it was senior guard Braydey Hodgins who took over in crunch time, scoring Boise State's final six points after the Broncos trailed, 68-66, with under two minutes to play.

BEEN AWHILE
Wednesday's meeting between Boise State and BYU will be the first in the series since Nov. 27, 2002, a 67-53 Cougar win in Provo.

BYU leads the all-time series, 11-7.

SUCCESSFUL PREVIEW WEEK
Boise State, the preseason pick of coaches and media to capture its third-straight Mountain West regular-season title in 2019-20, got that prediction off to the best start by going 2-0 during the "Preview Week" of conference play.

With wins at home over New Mexico and on the road at Colorado State, the Broncos not only opened conference play with two wins for the fourth-straight season, but made itself on of four Mountain West teams to open the season 2-0 (along with Fresno State, San Jose State, and Wyoming).

McGWIRE CLAIMS MOUNTAIN WEST HONOR
Voted the Preseason Newcomer of the Year in October, redshirt junior center Mallory McGwire sent her message in her debut action against conference opposition, claiming the Mountain West Player of the Week honor after the opening gamedays of conference play.

McGwire, who sat out last season after transferring from Oregon, posted a 21-point, 17-rebound double-double Wednesday against New Mexico, hitting the game-winning 3-pointer with 11 seconds left in overtime to lift the Broncos to the 83-82 win.

She only got stronger as the game went on. McGwire, who finished 9-for-14 from the field, scored 14 of her 21 points and went 6-for-9 shooting over the fourth quarter and overtime.

Sunday at Colorado State, she commanded a double team throughout, opening lanes and opportunities for fellow forward A'Shanti Coleman (8-for-11 shooting, 17 points) and point guard Jayde Christopher (career-high 16 points).

IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Boise State has found itself, as well as a handful of players, ranked fairly high in early national stat rankings through Dec. 9.

As a team, the Broncos rank fourth in the country in assists (188). The Broncos' 46.3 field-goal percentage ranks 20th, and the team's 89 3-pointers are fifth in the country.

Individually, redshirt senior point guard Jayde Christopher leads the nation with 80 assists, and is second with 8.00 assists per game. Senior guard Riley Lupfer is second in the country with 39 3-pointers made, and third with 3.90 triples made per game.

HODGINS IN THE CLUTCH
Boise State trailed Colorado State, 68-66, with 1:51 to go Sunday, and that's when senior Braydey Hodgins took over.

Hodgins scored Boise State's final six points, beginning with a three-point play with 1:09 to play that put the Broncos in front for good at 69-68. After a defensive stop, Hodgins would hit a floater in the lane with 25.6 seconds remaining to give the Broncos a 71-68 lead, then hit a free throw with 6.7 seconds left to seal the win.

NEVER OUT OF THE FIGHT
Boise State overcame two fourth-quarter deficits en route to starting Mountain West play 2-0 last week.

First, the Broncos overcame an eight-point hole against New Mexico, the largest final-quarter comeback since the 2018 Mountain West Championship Game, when the Broncos trailed Nevada, 54-46, with 8:05 to play before coming back to win, 62-60. Boise State would go on to also climb out of a five-point hole in overtime to win, 83-82.

Sunday at Colorado State, the Broncos trailed the Rams, 68-66, with 1:51 to play, but thanks to six-straight points from Braydey Hodgins, went on to the 72-69 win.
