ABOUT THE COWBOYS: Wyoming is 5-9 on the season and won consecutive games to close nonconference play. Redshirt sophomore guard Hunter Maldonado leads the Cowboys in scoring (17.9 points per game), rebounding (5.9 per game) and assists (3.7 per game). Wyoming is limiting opponents to 41.9 percent shooting from the field, but surrenders 9.3 offensive rebounds per contest.

SERIES HISTORY: Boise State leads the all-time series against Wyoming 15-14, including winning the last three meetings. In Boise State's first eight seasons in the Mountain West, the Broncos were 10-6 against the Cowboys, including a 5-2 mark at home.

HOLIDAY HOOPS: Boise State is playing on New Year's Day for just the second time in program history and the first since 2005. The Broncos have been busy during the holiday season this year, having already played on Christmas Day and four times during Hanukkah, while Wednesday will mark their second game during Kwanzaa.

PEAK PERFORMER: Derrick Alston, Jr. was named the Mountain West Peak Player of the Week for games played Dec. 23-29. Alston led the Broncos to a 3-0 record while averaging 24 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. It is the first weekly award of Alston's career and the first for a Bronco since Chandler Hutchison took home his fourth and final honor Jan. 15, 2018. Alston also earned national player of the week honors from the Lute Olson Award.

ALL-AROUND: Derrick Alston is one of just four players nationwide averaging at least 20 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. His 21.4 points per game is the highest scoring average among those four, while Alston and Tres Tinkle (Oregon State) are the only two players in the country averaging those numbers on teams with winning records.

NICE TO MEET YOU: Abu Kigab made his home debut as a Bronco by posting 33 points and 11 rebounds in a 103-72 win against CSUN (Dec. 28). It was the 17th 30-point, 10-rebound game in Boise State history, the seventh in the past 25 years and the first since Chandler Hutchison scored 39 points and grabbed 14 rebound against Washington in the 2018 NIT (March 14, 2018). Kigab is believed to be the first Bronco to score 30 points in his home debut.

30-POINT PAIRS: Two Broncos have combined for three individual 30-point games this season. Derrick Alston Jr. has eclipsed 30 points twice on the year, while Abu Kigab has done so once. It is the ninth time in Boise State's 52 years as a four-year institution (1968-69) that multiple Broncos have recorded 30-point games in the same season. Five of those nine occurrences have come during Leon Rice's tenure as head coach, each happening in the last eight seasons. The only time three different Broncos have registered 30-point games in the same season was 2012-13 (Anthony Drmic, Derrick Marks and Jeff Elorriaga).

THREE-GAME WIN STREAK: Boise State is riding a three-game win streak, during which the Broncos have thrived in two of the areas they pride themselves on most: ball movement and effort. During the three-game win streak, Boise State has 49 assists and have posted a combined plus-40 rebound margin.

CENTURY CLUB: Boise State has scored at least 100 points in consecutive home games and three times this season. It is the first time Boise State has hit triple digits in consecutive home games against Division I opponents in program history. The only time Boise State has hit the century mark four times in one season is the 1974-75 campaign.
