PALM DESERT, Calif. - In what turned out to be a duel to the end, sophomore Skyler Eubank converted his 36-hole lead into a two-stroke victory at the Wyoming Desert Classic in Palm Desert, Calif. On the team leaderboard, Boise State fell just a stroke shy of victory, finishing second to No. 18 Texas Tech.

The Broncos held a nine-shot lead during the final day but a flurry of back-nine birdies by Texas Tech overcame Boise State as they finished one shot shy of total victory at -5 (293-281-285=859). "This hurts. Plain and simple. It is what it is, and it hurts. Texas Tech played a great last few holes and we didn't. We've come through to win this year and we have guys who know how to get it done, but we just didn't quite get it across the finish line today. I'm looking forward to getting back in that position soon," said head coach Dan Potter.

Eubank grabbed a share of the lead on day one and never gave it up, winning the individual title in wire-to-wire fashion. He shot back-to-back 68's to start and closed with a final-round 71 to finish at -9 (68-68-71=207)  and win by two strokes over Kansas' Harry Hillier. Eubank sealed the victory with back-to-back birdies on 13 and 14 to put himself out of reach. This marks Eubank's first-career collegiate win, "Skyler was so impressive. His back nine was nearly flawless. It's a huge deal for him and it's big for our team for him to grow from this experience. I can't say enough about what toughness and skill he showed today. He was just awesome," said Potter.

Junior Brian Humphreys finished the final two days at five-under par to snag a tie for fifth place and grab his fourth top-ten of the season. He finished the weekend at -4 (73-68-71=212). Likewise, freshman Hugo Townsend rallied back after an opening-round 76 and played the final two days at even par to finish tied for 20th at +4 (76-71-73=220).

In his collegiate debut, freshman Cameron Barzekoff provided consistent play throughout the tournament finishing tied for 67th at +11 (76-74-77=227). Junior Joe Neuheisel rallied on the final day on the back of five birdies to close with a 70 (-2) to finish +13 (80-79-70=229) in a tie for 78th.

Boise State will return home for a two-week hiatus before heading to the Oregon Coast for the Bandon Intercollegiate hosted by Gonzaga University, March 10-12.
