Boise State had five athletes run top 16 national marks
SEATTLE, Wash. – The weather in Seattle called for snowstorms, but there was plenty of heat on the track in the Dempsey Indoor Center. The Boise State track and field team saw five athletes run marks that would rank them in the top 16 nationally entering the weekend, while another six set new personal bests.
The meet was condensed from two days down to one due to the snow storm hitting Seattle, but last-minute change didn't faze the Broncos at all.
Alexis Fuller posted the fastest time by a collegian at the meet in the mile, running a nearly 10-second personal best to finish in 4:36.83. That mark moves her to second on the school record book, and moves her into the top 16 nationally in the event.
In the women's 3000m, Allie Ostrander posted a time of 8:55.26 – far faster than the previous best national mark of 9:01.27 entering the weekend. Ostrander took second to Oregon's Jessica Hull, and her time will likely qualify her to the national championships in the event.
Maxine Paholek (9:29.39), Olivia Johnson (9:32.38) and Yukino Parle (9:41.47) all set new personal bests in the event on the day. On the men's side, Ahmed Muhumed set a new personal best of 8:08.62 in the event, while Addison Dehaven (7:55.70) took tenth.
The Broncos got four strong performances from their athletes running the 5000m. Both Miler Haller (14:04.64) and Riley Campbell (14:08.79) ran personal bests that place them in the top five in the school record book. On the women's side, Emily Venters improved on her time in the event with a 14:45.09 to take seventh on the day, and move to third on the school record book. Clare O'Brien ran 15:51.57 on the day.
Boise State will continue the weekend tomorrow with the Bronco Challenge, Saturday in Nampa, Idaho.
