Boise State (23-8, 3-6 MW) took the early lead, but couldn't get the victory over the Spartans
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Boise State softball team dropped the final game of the series to San José State, 5-3 Sunday at Spartan Softball Field.
Boise State (23-8, 3-6 MW) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Bradie Fillmore hit a groundball to the San José State third baseman. The play went to the plate, but the Spartans (24-10, 5-1 MW) were called for interference to get Ashlyn Adams across for a run.
Karlee Johnson followed up with a two RBI double for Boise State's second and third runs of the inning.
The Spartans would score in the next three consecutive innings to take the 5-3 lead, which would hold for the final score.
Adams led the Broncos at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a run. Johnson led the team with her two RBI shot – the only extra-base hit on the day for the Blue and Orange.
The Broncos will now enter the program's bye week from Mountain West play. Boise State will return to action against Idaho State, April 9. Boise State will then return home to host Utah State, April 12-14.
