Ostrander takes fourth in 3000m, Fuller ninth in the mile. Broncos finish with six team points
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Boise State track and field team capped the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a pair of All-America honors from Allie Ostrander and Alexis Fuller, Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex. In the team race, the Broncos scored six points to finish in a tie for 35th.
"We were hoping for a better weekend, but it's great for Allie and Alexis to earn All-America status," head coach Corey Ihmels said. "This was a learning experience for the team, and we'll carry this into the outdoor season."
The 3000m may have left Ostrander with a bloodied shin, but the redshirt junior also walked away with First-Team All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the event.
She recovered as the lead pack of Jessica Hull, Weini Kelati, Taylor Werner and Erica Berk began to pull away. On the backstretch of the final lap, Ostrander found her final gear to pass Berk and take fourth in 9:04.76.
Fuller earned Second-Team All-America honors with a ninth-place finish in the women's mile. The senior hung towards the middle of the pack for the majority of the race, and held steady to take ninth in 4:41.19.
Boise State will return to action for the outdoor season, March 22-23, at the NNU Open.

With the pack constricted into a tight group, Ostrander found herself trapped in the inside lane towards the back of the field. After multiple attempts to get into better position failed, she was forced to bide her time. Ostrander finally found an opportunity to pass on the inside lane entering the final third of the race, but was clipped on the shin rounding a corner. She got a battle scar in the process, but @allie_ostrander takes fourth in the 3000m to earn First-Team All-America honors! #BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/mTj29HtA9U
