SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Boise State track and field team advanced a pair of runners to the national quarterfinals of their respective events to highlight the first day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round, Thursday at Hornet Stadium.
Alexis Fuller and Kristie Schoffield won their respective heats of the 1,500-meter and the 800-meter to secure an automatic qualifier to the national quarterfinal. Fuller enter the final lap of the 1,500-meter in a pack of five runners, looking to secure a top five spot to automatically advance to Saturday's action. The senior was able to hold off the field and win her heat in a time of 4:18.70. Her time was the fourth-fastest of the day.
In the women's 800m, Schoffield was able to use a late charge down the home straight to win the sixth heat of the first round in a time of 2:06.04 in order to secure an automatic qualifier to Friday's national quarterfinal.

Also ending his Bronco career in Sacramento was Bryce Kirby. The senior was unable to cross the finish line in the men's 100m due to injury. He is the only athlete in school history to win three-straight conference titles in the men's 100m dash.
