Boise State will send 18 athletes — 21 entries — to the NCAA West Preliminary. That is the most the program has sent to the event since 20 Broncos qualified in 2013, while 18 is the third-most amount of athletes to advance to the qualifying round for the national championships since the model was adopted in 2003.
WOMEN MOVE UP IN THE RANKINGS
After a successful weekend at the Mountain West championships, Boise State's women's team has risen to 14th in the USTFCCCA Ranking Index. The Broncos got a national qualifying marks from Kristie Schoffield in the 800m, while Boise State scored points in every event group on the weekend. This is the third-consecutive week the women's team has moved up in the rankings after the program fell out of the top 25 for the April 29th release of the ranking index.
The Broncos were ranked eighth in the most recent regional rankings (May 6).
THE ROAD TO AUSTIN RUNS THROUGH SACRAMENTO
The 18 athletes Boise State will send to Sacramento are looking to place in the top 12 in their respective events. That finish would advance them to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 6-9, in Austin, Texas. Last season, the women's team sent a school-record five athletes to the national championship. The men's program has not qualified an individual to the national championship since David Elliott qualified for the 1,500-meter in 2017.
