ABOUT WEBER STATE:  A year after winning the regular-season Big Sky title, but not the conference championship, the Wildcats women's soccer team is beginning a new era under interim head coach Meagan Thunell. Thunell spent the previous 14 seasons as an assistant coach at Weber State.

ABOUT PORTLAND STATE: The Vikings are in their third season under head coach Katie Burton. Burton led the Vikings to a Big Sky Tournament appearance in her first season at the helm. Portland State finished the 2018 season at 5-10-1.

HIGH SCORING OFFENSE: After scoring four goals against New Mexico State Friday Aug. 30 the Broncos improved to 7-0-0 in the Jim Thomas era when scoring four or more goals.

SHUT IT DOWN: Sophomore Sydney Smith has now recorded three clean sheets in her first-five games, while only allowing three goals against the other two opponents.  She recorded a career-high nine saves in the double-overtime loss to Utah.

WAY DOWNTOWN: Senior Raven Sweeney blasted her second goal of the season Friday Sept. 6 against Idaho State. It marked her second career game-winning goal, giving her the third most game-winning goals among active Broncos.
