Poling Edged in Lubbock ITF Tournament Singles

Lilian Poling's run in the singles competition of the ITF Lubbock Tournament came just short Sunday afternoon.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Boise State senior Lilian Poling fell in her opening match on the first day of qualifying at the ITF Lubbock Tournament on Sunday.
Poling, who had qualified for the tournament with ITF points she had earned over the summer, had a first round matchup against McCartney Kessler of Florida. Poling was able to take the first set 6-4, but Kessler bounced back and won a very tough second set 7-6(3) which sent the match into a tiebreaker. Poling gave it her all in the tiebreaker set, but in the end it was Kessler coming out on top 15-13. Poling, however, still has the chance to be selected for the doubles portion of the tournament later in the week.
If she is not selected, Poling will return to Boise to rejoin her teammates who competed in the Barb Chandler Classic this weekend in Boise. The Broncos will now prepare for the ISU Fall Invitational next weekend in Pocatello, Idaho.
