Win Streak Ends in Reno

1/4/2020 6:32:00 PM | Men's Basketball

RENO, Nev. - Boise State men's basketball saw its four-game win streak come to an end Saturday, in an 83-66 loss at Nevada. The Wolf Pack (10-5, 3-0 Mountain West) shot 55.9 percent from the floor and hit 14 three-pointers. The Broncos (10-6, 2-2 MW) were limited to eight field goals in the second half and were outscored 44-31 in the period.

Nevada made 14-of-29 three-point attempts, tying the most made triples by a Boise State opponent in Leon Rice's 10 seasons as head coach. Jazz Johnson made eight three-pointers for Nevada on his way to 34 points.

Four Broncos scored in double figures, led by Derrick Alston's 15 points. Justinian Jessup finished with 12 points, including two first-half three-pointers. Jessup has made 275 career three-pointers and is now tied with Anthony Drmic for Boise State's all-time record.

Boise State led 19-11 before Johnson sparked the Nevada offense. He scored the Wolf Pack's next 13 points in less than four minutes to cut the Bronco lead to one. Nevada eventually took the lead and the teams traded baskets to end the period. Johnson finished the first half with 21 points and the Wolf Pack led 39-35.

A three-pointer by Marcus Dickinson early in the second half brought the Broncos within three at 46-43. Nevada then used a 12-4 run to take its first double-digit lead of the game and never looked back.

RJ Williams scored 11 points, including shooting 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Abu Kigab was the fourth Bronco in double figures with 10 points. Robin Jorch led the Broncos with seven rebounds to go with seven points.

Boise State returns home to take on UNLV Wednesday, at ExtraMile Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT. Tickets can be purchased by visiting BroncoSports.com/tickets, calling 208-426-4737 or stopping by the Boise State Athletic Ticket Office on the west side of Albertsons Stadium.
