BOISE, Idaho - Allison Voigt, Boise State's head beach volleyball coach, announced Thursday the signing of four recruits including graduate transfer Tasmin Tan (Ringwood, Australia | New Mexico) and three prep standouts Emilia Guerra Acuna (San Antonio, Texas), Madison Nichols (Olympia, Wash.) and  Sharli O'Neil (Olympia, Wash.).

"I am very excited to have Emilia, Madison, Sharli and Yasmin represent our 2021 signing class," said Voigt. "Emilia and Madison are great defenders that can score at a high rate. They both play with a lot of fire. Sharli is a split-blocker who is very athletic that has a great arm and feel for the game. While, Yasmin is our graduate transfer from University of New Mexico. She will add size and versatility for us. All four bring a lot of experience in the sand and are great students in the classroom. I am looking forward to having them compete in our beach line up right away. Can't wait to have them on campus representing the Bronco way."

Recruiting Class Roster
Yasmin Tan | Ringwood, Victoria, Australia (Yarra Valley School) | Univ. of New Mexico
Emilia Guerra Acuna | San Antonio, Texas (Brandeis HS) | 210 Beach Volleyball Club
Madison Nichols | Olympia, Wash. (Capital HS) | DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club
Sharli O'Neil | Seattle, Wash. (Kennedy Catholic HS) | DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club

Yasmin Tan
Tan is currently a senior at the University of New Mexico where she will graduate this December and join the Broncos this spring. She was a four-year letterwinner for the Lobos' indoor team and was a two-year member of the beach team that was discontinued following the 2019 campaign. She had an overall record of 19-27 in two years for the Lobos beach team which would be tied for fifth at Boise State for career wins. As a sophomore in 2019, Tan played for the Lobos' No. 2 pair where she went 8-15 overall. As a freshman, the native of Ringwood, Victoria, Australia, went 11-12 overall while playing primarily at the No. 3 position. After a slow start, Tan finished her freshman year going 11-4 including a win over a pair from No. 14/13 Florida International.

Tan's indoor volleyball experience also includes playing with the Australian Junior Women's Team, having competed at the South East Asian Games and Asian Junior Volleyball Championships in 2016, and the USA High Performance Championships in 2015.

Voigt on Tan, "Yasmin is a great addition for the program. She is bringing in a lot of experience from her previous school that will only help us immediately. She will be a blocker for us and I am so excited to see what all she will accomplish in the next two years."

Emilia Guerra Acuna
Guerra Acuna is currently a senior at Brandeis High School in San Antonio, Texas, where she is a four-year member of the indoor team. In addition, she plays the 210 Beach Volleyball Club of San Antonio. Her 210 BVC team has placed fifth at the 2019 AVP First Championship, third at the 2018 16U AAU Nationals in Hermosa Beach, Calif., second at the 2018 BVCA club challenge Dallas stop. In addition, Guerra Acuna was a member of the 15U USAV Beach High Performance A2 program.

Voigt's thoughts on Guerra Acuna, "Emilia is coming from a great club in Texas. She is a great defender that sees and knows the beach game very well. Emilia is coming in with a lot of experience and I am excited to see what she will accomplish on the sand for the Broncos."

Madison Nichols
Nichols is a senior at Capital High School in Olympia, Wash. She and recruiting classmate Sharli O'Neil play club beach volleyball for the DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club in University Place, Wash. Nichols' team won the 2020 D1 Scottsdale Beach Fest Club Challenge where she was named the best defensive player. Other competitions her team has played in during her career include: 2019 BVCA Club Challenge Dallas, 2018 Seattle AVP U16's Gold, 2017 Seaside AA Championship U16 and 2017 A1 USAV Beach Team.

Coach Voigt's thoughts, "Madison is coming in from a great club. She is a great defender who scores at a high rate and just knows how to win. I am so excited to have her make an immediate impact in our beach program."

Nichols also played for the Capital High indoor team where was a 2019 South Sound Conference All-League and All-Area First Team honoree as a junior. She was also on the 2020 AVCA Under Armour All-American Volleyball List. Her team won the 2017 Washington 3A State Championship and was runner-up in 2019.

Sharli O'Neil
O'Neil is currently a senior at Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien, Wash. O'Neil is a club teammate of another Bronco recruit Madison Nichols at DaKine Warriors Volleyball Club in University Place, Wash. She played blocker and split-blocker for DaKine. O'Neil, an outside hitter, also competes for Kennedy Catholic's indoor volleyball team where she helped them to two state tournament appearances.

Coach Voigt's comments on O'Neil, "Sharli is an athletic split-blocker coming from Seattle. She has a great arm and sees the game very well. Sharli is great for our program and I can't wait to see what she will accomplish here at Boise State."
