BOISE, Idaho -Â Boise State makes its final regular-season road trip this weekend, heading to The Pit to face New Mexico Saturday at 2 p.m.
2-SEED IN THE SIGHTS
Boise State clinched a first-round bye at March 1-4's Mountain West Tournament with Feb. 15's win at San Diego State, and, after Wednesday's win over San José State, are now 1.5 games ahead of both the Spartans and Wyoming for the 2-seed.
With Fresno State already having the top seed wrapped up, the Broncos continue to control their own destiny for the 2-seed, being able to clinch it by winning their final two games.
10 FOR 20
A win Saturday would be the 20th of the season for Boise State, and mark the program's 10th such season in its history. It would also mark the team's fourth-straight 20-win season, and fifth over the past six years (a 19-win 2015-16 campaign being the only exception).
LAST TIME OUT
Boise State picked up its third-straight win Wednesday night with a complete, 85-67 victory over San José State.
A'Shanti Coleman led five Broncos in double figures with 20 points, and sparked an early 9-0 run which put the Broncos ahead for good, 12-4, early in the first quarter.
Point guard Jayde Christopher posted her second double-double of the season, scoring 14 points with 12 assists, while Riley Lupfer went 6-for-10 from deep to finish with 18 points.
WHO'S NEXT
The Broncos make their final road trip of the regular season this weekend, heading to Albuquerque for a Saturday tip at New Mexico.
It is Boise State's first trip to Albuquerque since a 100-83 loss back on Jan. 3, 2018.
New Mexico (14-14, 5-10 MW) dropped an 86-78 overtime decision at Nevada Wednesday night, and is led by the play of Ahlise Hurst (13.5 ppg, 82 3-pointers), Jordan Hosey (11.8 ppg, 8.4 rpg), and Aisia Robertson (8.0 ppg, 5.35 apg).
SERIES HISTORY
Boise State leads the all-time series against New Mexico, 13-7.
The Broncos have won each of the last three meetings, including an 83-82 overtime victory earlier this season, on Dec. 4.
SECOND GO-AROUND
Boise State will aim for a sweep of New Mexico with Saturday's meeting.
With a game also remaining against UNLV (Feb. 24), who beat the Broncos in Las Vegas on Jan. 8, Boise State will have have the chance to avoid being swept by a conference opponent for the first time since going 0-2 against Colorado State in 2015-16.
IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Boise State has found itself, as well as a handful of players, ranked fairly high in early national stat rankings through Feb. 19.
As a team, the Broncos rank 11th in assists (468). The Broncos' 44.6 field-goal percentage ranks 32nd, and the team's 196 3-pointers are 37th in the country.
Individually, redshirt senior point guard Jayde Christopher is second in the nation with 222 assists, and with 7.93 assists per game. Senior guard Riley Lupfer is third in the country with 88 3-pointers made, and seventh with 3.14 triples made per game.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
Wednesday night's win over San José State marked the third time this season in which five Broncos scored in double figures in a single game.
Redshirt senior forward A'Shanti Coleman led the way with 20 points, while Riley Lupfer hit six 3-pointers to finish with 18, and Jayde Christopher (14), Mallory McGwire (13), and Jade Loville (11) rounded out the group.
CHRISTOPHER WITH THE HELPERS
Redshirt senior point guard Jayde Christopher passed out 12 assists in Wednesday's win, marking her third-straight game, and ninth this season, with at least 10 helpers.
Christopher, who already set Boise State's single-season assists record Feb. 12 at Air Force, has upped her season total to 222 and has her sights set on the Mountain West single-season mark of 243 set by New Mexico's Cherise Beynon in 2017-18.
RARE POINTS-ASSISTS DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Jayde Christopher posted her second double-double of the season Wednesday, scoring 14 points to go with her 12 assists.
It was just the fifth double figure-scoring game for Christopher this season, and was two points off her career high if 16 set Dec. 8 at Colorado State. Her last double-figure performance came Jan. 18 at Utah State, when she finished with 13 points.
Wednesday against San José State, Christopher went 5-for-7 from the field, hitting a 3-pointer, and even grabbed six rebounds in the 85-67 win.
COLEMAN IS ON A RUN
Redshirt senior forward A'Shanti Coleman is making her case for her first-career, and, honestly, long-overdue, All-Mountain West pick with her play this month.
After scoring 20 points with nine rebounds in Wednesday's win, Coleman is averaging 14.2 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 57.8 percent (37-for-64) from the field over six February games.
In Mountain West play, Coleman is averaging 11.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.07 blocks a game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the line. She has scored in double figures in 11 of Boise State's 16 conference games.
LUPFER HEATED UP
Senior guard Riley Lupfer has been firing away down the stretch of this conference season, and her recent performances are a big reason the Broncos have fought into control of race for the 2-seed.
Lupfer has scored in double figures in each of the past five games, averaging 18.0 points a game while shooting 47.8 percent (22-for46) from 3-point range.
After going 6-for-10 from deep in Wednesday's win over San José State, Lupfer has hit at least five 3-pointers in three of the last five games, and is even shooting an impressive 51.7 percent from the field (31-for-60).
LOVILLE MAKING SIXTH PLAYER CASE
With the Mountain West postseason awards approaching, sophomore guard Jade Loville has been making a strong case for Sixth Player of the Year consideration.
Coming off of a 20-point, 11-rebound outing at San Diego State Saturday, Loville followed up with 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench in Wednesday's win over San José State.
Overall, it was Loville's ninth double figure-scoring game of the season, and brought her scoring average in Mountain West contests to 7.3 points on 44.3-percent shooting (47-for-106).
