The Boise State women's tennis team improved to 4-1 with its sweep of Dixie State on Saturday in Ogden.
OGDEN, Utah – Senior Lilian Poling was unstoppable as she won every set she played to lead the Boise State women's tennis team to a 7-0 sweep over Dixie State on Saturday in Ogden.
The New Yorker began her day by partnering with Holly Stewart in doubles, the two cruised to a 6-0 victory. Camryn Moortgat and Joana Baptista chipped in with a 6-0 win of their own to clinch the doubles point for the Broncos and give the team an early 1-0 lead.
Poling kept her momentum rolling into singles as she dominated Dixie State's Emma Templeman 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 position to cap off a perfect day for the senior. Vanessa Timm followed closely behind with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Kate Longson on court four, and suddenly the Broncos were one win away from clinching the match.
Baptista was nearly perfect in her performances on Saturday, only dropping one set in her 6-0, 6-1 court two singles victory over Juliana Honczaruk as she clinched the match for the Broncos.
With a mark in the win column already secured, senior Jovana Kuljanin locked up her first singles win of the season with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 performance over Anna Peterson on court six. Freshmen Holly Stewart and Ana Conde Vendrell put the cap on the team's impressive performance by earning straight-set victories on courts three and five respectively, completing the Bronco sweep.
"We made some good adjustments today and showed growth in the areas we focused on this week after last weekend's matches," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We're excited to get back out and compete against Weber State tomorrow."
Boise State (4-1) faces a quick turnaround as they square off with Weber State (2-1) tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. MT.
