Boise State Splits on Final Day of Judi Garman Classic

Broncos fall 6-2 to No. 3 Texas, then beat Grand Canyon 10-6.
Boise State's bats came alive on Sunday as the Broncos out hit both opponents and combined for 20 on the day. They finished the Sunday hitting 32.3 percent against the Longhorns and Antelopes.
The Blue and Orange played 19 Broncos on the day, led by Bradie Fillmore and Bella Rocco who both had four hits, followed by Alison Seng with three, while Kelsey Lalor, Jessica McKay, Ashlyn Adams and Karlee Johnson each had two. Seng hit a team-high 60 percent (3-of-5) with Fillmore and Rocco hitting .571 going 4-of-7.Â
Johnson led the team with three RBIs followed by Rocco and Lalor with two each, three others had one RBI apiece.

Boise State faced the third-ranked Longhorns in the morning and held a 2-1 lead in the fourth before Texas came back with runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth to take the game 6-2.Â

Texas scored the first run of the game in the third inning on a Boise State throwing error.Â
Boise State responded in the top of the fourth with two runs of its own. The first run was Fillmore's solo home run, then the second came off a Johnson single up the middle that brought Emily Alandt — pinch running for Seng — home from second.
With Boise State leading 2-1 going to the bottom of the fourth, Texas rallied with a three RBI home run by Shannon Rhodes for a 4-2 Longhorn advantage to close the fourth. Texas then tacked on two more runs in the fifth to complete all the scoring in the game. Boise State had a chance to come back in the sixth but could not convert, leaving two runners on base.Â
Offensively, Boise State had eight hits in the ball game led by Fillmore with two, including the solo home run. In all, seven Broncos had hits with Adams, McKay, Seng, Lalor, Rocco and Johnson all tallying one apiece.Â
GRAND CANYON RECAP
Boise State regrouped from the loss to Texas with an impressive 10-6 victory over the Grand Canyon Antelopes Sunday afternoon. The Broncos wasted little time seizing the lead in the top of the first with four runs, then added three more in the second and never looked back. Eighteen Broncos played in the win as the Blue and Orange cruised to the 12th win of the season.
Boise State defeats Grand Canyon but not before GCU tacks on two more runs in the bottom of the 7th to make final score 10-6.

Boise State batted around in the first inning tallying four runs. Seng started the scoring off with a single to right center bringing McKay home. Lalor followed with a double to right center to score both Fillmore and Seng. The final run of the inning came from a GCU error which scored Lalor from third for a 4-0 Boise State lead heading to the bottom of the first.
The Broncos added to their advantage in the second with three more base runners crossing home plate. With bases loaded McKay would open the scoring for Boise State in the second when she cross the plate on a wild pitch. Rocco then brought both Seng and Fillmore home with a single through the right side to make the score 7-0 Boise State.
Leading 7-1 in the top of the seventh, Boise State tacked on two more runs. With Alandt on second and Lalor on first, Johnson doubled to left center resulting in both base runners crossing the plate for a 9-1 lead.
Grand Canyon attempted to rally with a run in the third and three in the fifth. After neither team scored in the sixth, Boise State would add an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Isabelle Butler brought the final Bronco run home when she singled up the middle scoring India Kelly from second.Â
The Antelopes rallied again with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, before the Broncos recorded the final out of the game.
Micaela Leal earned the win starting the game at pitcher, then returned in the bottom of the sixth to close it out. Leal pitch four innings tallying four strikeouts, one walk, while allowing five hits and two runs.
Rocco led Boise State's offense with three hits and two RBIs. Fillmore and Seng followed with two hits each and scored two runs apiece. Â Five other Broncos each recorded a hit in the game as the Broncos combined for 12 hits in the game.Â
