Broncos Take Second Place at Oregon State Invitational
10/12/2021 5:18:00 PM | Men's Golf
Corvallis, Ore. – Three Broncos finished in the top-10 as Boise State's men's golf team took second place at the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Blue and Orange shot 3-under overall (279-280-290—849) and finished 11 strokes behind Washington.
"Today was not our best, but we hung in there," said head coach Dan Potter. "We didn't get off to a great start and it's a very difficult course to play from behind. The hole locations were difficult all three rounds and birdies were hard to come by. We would've liked to make it more interesting down the stretch, but the guys did well to finish under par for the tournament and earn a nice result. All in all, it was a positive week for us."
Hugo Townsend (69-68-71—208) was the top finisher for Boise State as he scored par or better in all three rounds and carded 5-under to place second, his best finish of the season and first inside the top-10.
Skyler Eubank (67-69-75—211) also finished in the top five, shooting 2-under to tie for fourth. He became the first Bronco to finish top-10 in the first three tournaments of a season since Troy Merritt did so in 2007-08. It was also Eubank's 21st top-25 finish of his career, moving him into a tie for third all-time in program history with Matt Hastings and Merritt.
Max Charles (72-70-71—213) was even through his three rounds and finished tied for 10th, his second top-10 finish this season. Joe Neuheisel (71-73-73—217) was the fourth Bronco to finish in the top-25 as he carded 4-over and tied for 18th.
Nick Hedman (74-75-75—224) finished tied for 46th to round out the Boise State lineup. Meridian-native Drew Reinke (74-74-78—226) competed as an individual and shot 13-over and finished tied for 50th in his Bronco debut.
Up next Boise State travels to Little Rock, Ark., for the Little Rock Invitational, Oct. 18-19.
