MADISON, Wis. – The Boise State men's cross country team finished 12th in the 8k championship race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, Friday, outpacing seven nationally-ranked programs
The Bronco men finished ahead of nationally-ranked Butler (16), Iona (14) North Carolina (18), Portland (26), Southern Utah (21), Syracuse (27) and Washington (13)
Senior Dario De Caro led the Broncos in the championship race, garnering a 22nd-place finish with a time of 23:48.4. He was followed closely by fellow senior Logan Rees who took 38th (23:55.4).
Rounding out the men's championship scorers were seniors Jack Leitch (80th-place finish) and Jonathan Shields (101) and freshman Ahmed Ibrahim (120).
On the women's side, the Broncos notched a 24th-place finish in the 6k championship race, topping 30th-ranked Oregon State.
Juniors Olivia Johnson and Tyler Beling paced the Broncos for the third-consecutive race. Johnson registered a 69th-place finish and Beling crossed the finish line in 101st.
Senior Yukino Parle (117), sophomore Ines Borba (162) and junior Sailor Hutton (172) also scored for the Blue and Orange.
Additionally, this year's meet featured B races, and Boise State captured first place in the men's B race, led by freshmen Matty Mackay (4) and Murdoch McIntyre (7).
Senior Kristie Schoffield (50) and freshman Bella Brickner (72) ran in the women's B race.
Next up for the Broncos is the Mountain West Championships, which is slated for Oct. 29 in Albuquerque, N.M. The men look to capture their first conference title since 2018, after finishing fourth in 2019 and third earlier this year, due to COVID-19 altering the 2020 season timeline. The women seek to break New Mexico's streak of 13-straight conference championships. The team was just two points shy of topping the Lobos in 2018.
