SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Boise State's men's tennis team fell 7-0 at Utah Saturday afternoon. The Broncos lost a tough doubles point where two of the matches went to tiebreakers, then saw two singles contests go to extra points only to come up short in three of the four. The loss was the first of the year for the Broncos who moved to 2-1 overall.
In doubles Utah claimed the first victory on court two, while the other two contests went to tiebreakers. Wyatt DeMulling and Lawrence Sciglitano lost a heartbreaker 7-6 (6) at No. 1 doubles to Franco Capalbo and Geronimo Busleiman.
The Utah win at No. 1 doubles clinched the team point for the Utes. At the time, Boise State's Kyryll Kryvchun and Michael Bott were in the middle of a tiebreaker on court three when it was stopped at 6-6 (1-1).
Utah won the first four singles matches in straight sets to clinch the team victory. However, the final two contests could have gone the way of the Blue and Orange.
Unfortunately, Lukas Ridemar was edged out in a second-set tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6(1) by Bruno Krenn and Bott fell in a second-set tiebreaker 6-4, 7-6 (4).
The Broncos will be back in action next week when they host a trio of matches Feb. 19-21 against George Fox, Idaho State and Gonzaga.
