The Boise State women's tennis team took down Dixie State 7-0 on Sunday in Salt Lake City.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After a tough loss to Utah the day before, the Boise State women's tennis team responded in a big way as it swept Dixie State 7-0 on Sunday in Salt Lake City.

"It was great to see the team bounce back the way they did today after feeling like we let a good opportunity slip through our fingers yesterday against Utah," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "They showed a lot of resilience and toughness to bounce back right away and compete and perform the way they did."

The Broncos let their doubles attack set the tone for the day, winning on all three courts. Pauline Ernstberger and Holly Stewart kept their undefeated doubles streak going when they began the day with a 6-0 win on court two. Shauna Heffernan and Joana Baptista followed right behind them with a 6-2 win on court one to clinch the doubles point, and Nicole Discenza and Vanessa Timm put the icing on the cake with a 6-2 win on court three.

With the 1-0 lead in hand, Stewart started things off in singles with a swift 6-0, 6-2 win over Dixie State's Sabrina Longson on court two, while Shauna Heffernan followed closely behind earning a straight-set win of her own over Alexandra Hildreth at the No. 4 spot to bring the Broncos one win away from clinching the match.

On court three, the reigning Mountain West Player of the Week Ernstberger put away a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Emma Templeman, sealing the win for the Blue and Orange. The Broncos did not stop there as Discenza put on a dazzling performance to win 6-2, 6-2 over Ya-Chi Hsu at the No. 5 spot, while Baptista did much of the same on court one with a 6-3, 6-3, win to put the Broncos in position to sweep.

Mae McCutcheon was able to clinch the sweep for Boise State on court six, battling back to win a match that went to a super-tiebreaker 1-6, 7-6(3) 1-0(7). The win was the team's second 7-0 sweep of the season, having done so against Lewis-Clark State, February 6.

Up next, the Broncos will be taking on Weber State on March 8 in a rare Monday-evening showdown in Boise. "Our players are working hard to perfect their craft," said Roghaar. "We have a couple of weeks between now and our next match to keep the iron sharpening iron and continuing to improve."
