The Boise State women's tennis team defeated Weber State 6-1 on Monday evening in Boise.

BOISE, Idaho – After losing the previous two meetings in 4-3 heartbreakers, Boise State's women's tennis team was finally able to get its revenge on Weber State by beating them 6-1 on Monday night in Boise.

"Overall, I thought we put a great match together today start to finish," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "Weber State is a tough and dangerous team and we knew we were going to have to put it together. It's so awesome to see our team come out and actually execute from the first point in doubles to the last point in singles. When we do that, we are a very good team."

The Bronco doubles attack was lethal once again, beating the Wildcats on all three courts to steal the first point of the match. Roghaar switched things up on court three, sending out the duo of Nicole Discenza and Ana Conde Vendrell that impressed by breezing to a 6-1 victory. Shauna Heffernan and Joana Baptista took down the Wildcats' Ana Morett Salas and Sicely Ferreira in a 6-3 fashion, while Pauline Ernstberger and Holly Stewart improved to 6-0 on the season with their 6-3 win over Megan Davies and Pie-Hsuan Kuo on court two.

In singles play Stewart kept the ball rolling for the Broncos with a stellar two-set win over Megan Davies 6-0, 6-3. Shauna Heffernan followed closely behind, defeating Sicely Ferreira 6-4, 6-1 on court five and put their team in the position to clinch the match. Nicole Discenza stepped up to the challenge for the Blue and Orange on court six, cruising past Ana Gonzalez 6-2, 6-3 and sealing an important win for her team over a program that had been a thorn in the past two seasons.

Pauline Ernstberger continued to press on for Boise State, winning a tight second set to take down Megan Lombardi 6-3, 7-5 on court two to add to the Bronco lead. Weber State was able to pick up a point on court four, but Joana Baptista grounded out a 7-5, 6(5)-7, 1-0(6) win on court one to end the match on a high note for the Blue and Orange.

"I'm most excited about the players being able to see that when they compete from the first point to the last, that we're capable of doing some really good damage," said Roghaar. "I think this win will build a lot of confidence."
