2/7/2021 5:21:00 PM | Men's Basketball

RENO, Nev. - Boise State went cold in the second half and Nevada secured a sweep over the Broncos with a 73-62 win Sunday, at Lawlor Events Center.

With 12:14 left in the game, a three-pointer from Derrick Alston, Jr. drew the Broncos within three. Boise State (14-4, 10-3 MW) did not make a field goal for the next nine minutes and 24 seconds.

Back-to-back three-pointers from RayJ Dennis and Emmanuel Akot with under three minutes to play made it a five-point game, but Grant Sherfield made sure Nevada (14-7, 9-5 MW) stayed in front.

The loss marks the first time Boise State has dropped consecutive games since January 2020.

Derrick Alston, Jr. was the top scorer for Boise State, tallying 17 points. Emmanuel Akot finished with 13 points. Mladen Armus tied his season high with 12 points, while adding eight rebounds and two blocked shots.

The Broncos shot a season-low 34.6 percent from the floor.

Sherfield finished with 29 points to lead the Wolf Pack.

Boise State returns home for its next four games, hosting UNLV (Feb. 11 and 13) and Utah State (Feb. 17 and 19).
