Kayly Pau led Boise State with 14 kills in loss to Falcons.
USAFA, Colo. - Kayly Pau's team-high 14 kills was not enough as Boise State volleyball fell 3-1 on the road at Air Force Saturday afternoon. Boise State started slow and found itself in an early 2-0 hole in the match score after dropping the first two sets. The Broncos rallied to win the third set but came up short in the end 25-22, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22. The loss moved Boise State to 10-5 overall with one match remaining in the season next Saturday at home against Fresno State.
Boise State had trouble getting started versus the Falcons and was forced to battle from behind for the third straight match. The Broncos fought hard as neither team hit the ball extremely well, the Blue and Orange finished hitting a season-low .133 percent for 44 kills to go with seven service aces and 11 blocks. Air Force countered with .205 percent hitting for 56 kills and had three service aces and eight blocks.Â
Pau hit 28.6 percent while tallying the 14 kills and added three digs and three blocks to finish with a team-high 15.5 points.Â
No other Broncos reached double-figure kills as Lauren Ohlinger followed Pau with nine. She also tallied three service aces — tied for team high — 12 digs and one block. Jessica Donahue finished the match hitting a team-best .357 percent with seven kills and team-high seven blocks.
Danielle Boss distributed 36 assists from her setter position and had two kills, one service ace, seven digs and five blocks. Allison Casillas tied Ohlinger for the high in service aces with three and led the team defensively with 16 digs. Â
