Broncos go 2-2 on the weekend in Eugene, sweeping Portland State and falling twice to Oregon.

EUGENE, Ore. - Boise State softball split on Sunday afternoon in Eugene defeating Portland State 6-1, then fell to sixth-ranked Oregon 10-2. The Broncos closed the weekend in Oregon going 2-2 to move to 5-9 overall.

Boise State's bats came alive on Sunday with seven hits and six runs versus the Portland State Vikings in the opener. The Broncos also experienced some success offensively against Oregon with four hits and two runs, but it was not enough to overcome the Ducks' high-powered offense.

The Blue and Orange recorded all of its runs, but one, and most of the hits in the first three innings today. Leading the way for the Broncos were Autumn Bennett with three runs, three hits and one RBI while hitting .600 on the day. Ashlyn Whalen also hit .600 and had three hits while accounting for three RBI. Ashlyn Adams hit .571 for three hits, scored two runs and had one RBI.

RECAP: Broncos Sprint Past Portland State 6-1

In the opener the Broncos started quick striking for two runs in the first inning and three more in the third to put the game out of reach for the Vikings. Each team added a run down the stretch before Boise State collected its second win of the weekend over PSU.
In the first inning, Bennett doubled to right and Adams reached on a walk. They both crossed the plate when Bella Rocco singled to right field.

Boise State extended its lead to 5-0 with a big third inning. Bennett opened the frame with a lead-off homer to right field. Adams then singled to shortstop, then came home when Whalen homered to left field.

After Portland State had cut the lead to 5-1 in the top of the fifth, the Broncos had an answer. Kelsey Lalor reached on a walk and eventually made her way to third. Alison Seng brought Lalor home with a single to right to wrap up the scoring in the game.

The Broncos finished with seven hits led by Bennett and Adams with two each, while Seng, Rocco and Whalen each recorded one.

Hannah Bailey pitched 5.1 one innings and recorded her third win of the season. She struck out four, walked none, allowed six hits and gave up one run.

RECAP: No. 6 Oregon Rallies Past Broncos for 10-2 Win.

Boise State started the rematch with sixth-ranked Oregon strong striking for a quick run in the top of the first inning. But that would prove not to be enough as the Ducks rallied early to take charge and claim the win in six innings.
Seng opened the game with a walk and then worked her way to third. She came home on an Adams single to second. Oregon wasted little time in recovering with two runs in the bottom half of the first.

Boise State tied the score at 2-2 in the top of the third when Bennett reached third following a single to right, then stole second and reached third on a wild pitch. Whalen brought Bennett home with a single through the left side.

Once again, the Ducks wasted little time regaining control with four runs, powered by two homers, in the bottom of the third.

It was all Oregon from that point forward as the Bronco bats cooled off, while the Duck offense tacked on four more runs to end it in the sixth inning.

Broncos recording hits were Whalen with two while both Bennett and Adams tallied one each.
