The Boise State women's tennis team suffered a 4-1 loss to Wyoming Saturday afternoon in Logan, Utah.
LOGAN, Utah – Joana Baptista earned herself a straight-set singles victory but the Wyoming Cowgirls proved too strong for the Boise State women's tennis team as they fell 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Logan, Utah.
Wyoming would send a message early by winning a tightly contested doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead. Joana Baptista and Shauna Heffernan led 6-5 late in their match on court one, but Wyoming took two 6-4 victories on courts two and three to take the point.
The Cowgirls would begin singles play with two straight victories, both coming in straight sets on courts five and two to put the Broncos' backs against the wall. Baptista was able to put a stop to the Wyoming run with her 6-4, 6-3 win over Sophie Zehender on court one, but the Cowgirls responded with a three-set victory on court four to clinch the match.
The loss bumps the Broncos to 11-6 on the season and 5-4 Mountain West play with one match remaining this season. The Broncos will close out their 2021 campaign in Logan tomorrow against Colorado State at 9:30 a.m.
