ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Boise State softball fell 6-3 in the Mountain West series finale at New Mexico on Sunday. Alison Seng and Bella Rocco led the Broncos with two hits each, Rocco also had a solo home run.

The Lobos scored two in the first inning to take an early lead and the momentum. Boise State did come back and tie it at 2-2 in the top of the fourth, but that did not last long as New Mexico put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The loss moved the Broncos to 18-18 overall and 9-6 in conference play.

Both teams recorded eight hits, but the Lobos had two home runs accounting for four of their scores on the day while the Broncos had a solo homer by Rocco.

New Mexico opened the scoring in the first inning with two runners crossing the plate. Boise State slowly whittled the deficit away starting with a run in the second on Rocco's lead-off homer to left field.

Then trailing 2-1 heading into the fourth, Boise State would pull even. Jordyn Hutchins started the inning with a lead-off walk, followed by Rocco who singled to right field to put runners on the corners. Seng came to the plate with one out, sending a single to right field bringing home Hutchins to tie the score. Boise State tried to score a second run on Seng's hit but Clarissa Moreno — pinch running for Rocco — was caught at the plate.

With the score tied at 2-2 heading to the bottom of the fourth, the Lobos exploded for four runs powered by a pair of home runs to put the game away with UNM up 6-2.

Boise State attempted to rally, scoring one in the sixth when Hutchins tripled to left, then came home on a Karlee Johnson double to left field for the final score of the game. The Broncos did have two base runners on in the seventh but were unable to convert on those opportunities.

The Broncos will be back in action next weekend when they host the Colorado State Rams for three at Dona Larsen Park.
