Broncos Have a Strong Showing as Taviore Makes History

CLOVIS, Calif. – Boise State track and field, led by freshman Anita Taviore, lit up the stadium for the West Coast Relays, Friday.

Freshman Anita Taviore wrote her name into the Boise State record book three times at Veterans Memorial Stadium. She won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.51 just .11 shy of the school record. Shortly after which, running in the 200m she finished second and easily broke the Boise State record with a time of 23.25. The mark bested the previous top time of 23.41 held by Mackenzie Flanagan.

Senior Olivia Johnson clocked a time of 16:21.81 en route to a third-place finish in the women's 1,500m. Joining her in the top-10 was Nuria Tillo-Prats who closed seventh.

The women's 4x400m relay team also marked a spot in the record book, clocking a time of 3:41.13, which stands as the third fastest in the program.

Jacob Grinwis led the men in the 800m for the Broncos, earning a third-place finish with a time of 1:51.91.
