COLLEGE STATION, Texas – On the opening night of the NCAA West Preliminaries, Boise State track and field had three runners compete in the qualifying rounds.

Jonathan Shields raced in the 1,500-meters to open the meet for the Broncos, he finished with a time of 3:48.76 and closed eighth in his heat.

In the men's 400m hurdles, Ryan Cavinta earned a sixth-place finish in his heat with a time of 52.40, less than half a second off his personal best.

In the final event of the evening, Dario De Caro took to the line running in the 10,000m. He clocked a time of 31:04.63 to close 43rd.

Thursday, six Bronco women will compete beginning with Olivia Johnson in the 1,500m at 5:30 p.m. MT.
