BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men's tennis finished the 2020-21 year ranked tied for fourth in the ITA Mountain Region. In addition, three members of the squad Simon Arca Costas, Blake Bayldon and Kyryll Kryvchun also found themselves in the final regional rankings.
"It's been a different kind of season, but I am so proud of this team, dealing with uncertainties every week, and still finishing at 17-3," said head coach Kristian Widen. "With our region being very strong, I am very proud of the three players finishing in the top-15 and a doubles team in the top-5. With our team, tied for 4th, we are gaining respect in the West and we are excited to improve upon this year's success."
The Broncos, who went 17-3 during the season, finished tied for fourth with BYU, behind Denver, Utah and New Mexico and ahead of UNLV, Utah State, Northern Arizona, Air Force and Montana.
Boise State's Bayldon led a trio of Broncos in the regional singles rankings coming in at ninth, followed by Arca Costas who tied for 10th and Kryvchun who finished 15th.
Bayldon finished his senior season with an 11-3 singles record overall and went 3-1 in conference. The senior played primarily at the No.1 singles position where he went 8-2.
Arca Costas tallied a final singles record of 13-2 overall and reached the 50 career win milestone this season. The native of Spain played primarily at the No. 2 (4-2) and 3 (6-0) positions during the campaign.
Meanwhile, Kryvchun split time between the top three positions going a combined 6-4 on the year.
Bayldon and Arca Costas also finished the season ranked fifth in the region after going 7-2 at Boise State's top doubles position.
While Bayldon graduated, both Arca Costas and Kryvchun are expected to return for the 2021-22 campaign.
