WHAT'S NEXT: Boise State has two matches on deck this week, one at home and one on the road. The Broncos will host UC Davis Thursday at 5 p.m. before traveling to Portland, Ore. for a matchup against Portland State Sunday at 2 p.m.Â
Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Blue and Orange went 2-0 last week as it hosted matches against Dixie State and Pacific. Thursday's matchup against the Trailblazers saw four Broncos score their first goals of the season en route to a 4-0 result. More magic came in Sunday's match against the Tigers as senior Dorian Goodwin scored from just outside the box in the 103rd minute to claim the 1-0 win for her team.
Â
DOMINANT DEFENSE: Boise State's defense has turned up in a big way to start the season, earning three shutouts in as many matches. The only other time a Bronco team won its first three matches in shutout-fashion was in 2004. The back line of Payton McBride, Macie Nelson, Jocelyn Stephens and Abby Bivens have started all three matches and provided consistently good performances. Boise State is the only team in the Mountain West that has not conceded a goal.
Â
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The Bronco attack came alive this weekend to score five goals in two matches. Even more impressive is each of the five goals was scored by a different student-athlete. Head coach Jim Thomas has preached on the team's depth at all positions, and the offensive display this past weekend certainly showed that. As the team awaits the return of top goal-scorer Aubree Chatterton, it will be important for Boise State to continue to diversify its attack.Â
