WACO, Texas – The Boise State men's tennis team fell to second-ranked Baylor 7-0 Monday afternoon in Waco, Texas. The Broncos knew they had their hands full when they headed to Texas where they earned a weekend split in Waco defeating Abilene Christian 4-3 on Sunday before falling to the Bears today.

Simon Arca Costas and Ryo Minakata led Boise State as they battled their opponents in tightly contested matches. Arca Costas fell in a third set tiebreaker at No.2 singles, while Minakata came up short in a two-set match on court five that went 7-6(5) 6-4.

Baylor opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches to claim the team point.

Down one, the hole grew bigger for the Broncos as the Bears swept the first two singles matches on courts six and three to close within one of clinching the team victory.

Boise State freshman Pedro Liborio played up one position from where he had been competing so far this season moving to court one. The native of Portugal took on Baylor's Adrian Boitan who handed the Bronco a two-set defeat 6-3, 6-0 to clinch the match for the Bears.

After winning set one, Boise State's Arca Costas battled BU's Matias Soto to a third set 10-point tiebreaker before coming up short 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 to make the team score 6-0 Baylor.

The final match of the day to be decided came on court five where Minakata took on Baylor's Cole Gromley. The match was close throughout, but unfortunately, Minakata was edged out 7-6(5), 6-4.

The Broncos moved to 2-3 overall with the road loss. Next up, for the Blue and Orange will be the first home contests of the season, a three-match homestand Feb. 4-6 when Boise State hosts Montana, Seattle U and North Dakota.
