Broncos Dominate on Senior Night

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State gymnastics team, ranked No. 24 nationally, celebrated Senior Night in style, scoring a season-high 196.950 to take down 21st-ranked Utah State, Friday night at ExtraMile Arena.
The Broncos put up season bests in all four events en route to their highest score since March 18, 2019. Boise State gymnasts took home individual titles in three of the four events for the second-straight meet.
Senior Alexis Stokes tied the program record with a 9.975 on bars for the second-straight meet, taking home her second bars title in as many weeks. Talia Little and Courtney Blackson opened the rotation with back-to-back 9.875s, which, for Blackson, tied a career high. Emily Lopez and Emily Muhlenhaupt rounded out the rotation for Boise State, scoring 9.875 and 9.850, respectively, to secure a 49.450 in the event.
In the first rotation freshman Alyssa Vulaj led the way for Boise State again on vault, scoring a 9.900 to take home her second-straight individual title in the event. Samantha Smith also tallied a season-high 9.825, and the Broncos posted a 49.100 in the event. Boise State has improved its score on the apparatus each meet this season.
On beam, Adriana Popp tied her career high with a 9.900 to lead the way for Boise State, which scored 49.200 in the event. Popp collected the individual title on the event, the fifth in her career. Emily Lopez established her career high with a 9.875 on beam, and the Broncos entered the final rotation with a 147.750-147.350 advantage over the Aggies.
In the final rotation, sophomore Courtney Blackson led the way for the Blue and Orange on floor, setting a career-mark of 9.925. The dynamic freshmen duo of Elaina McGovern and Blake Pascal followed, each posting career highs of 9.900 in the event.Â
The Broncos face a quick turnaround as they head to Stanford, Calif., for a quad meet Monday, Feb. 21. Boise State will take on Stanford, BYU and Sacramento State beginning at 3 p.m. MT.
