Two Broncos Finish Top 20 at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

3/4/2022 5:26:00 PM | Men's Golf

PALM DESERT, Calif. – Hugo Townsend and Max Charles each finished inside the top 20 as Boise State men's golf finished sixth in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club.

"It was a mixed bag all three days," said head coach Dan Potter. "We had some guys hang in there well enough to give us a chance but we never sustained any good stretches to get to where we could play offense. We know the course and it wasn't playing very difficult. We just didn't get it done as a team."

Townsend (73-68-74—215) fired a 4-under 68 in the second round – tied for the second-lowest score in the round – on his way to a 14th-place finish. This was the sixth time this season Townsend has been inside the top 25, and the 26th time in his career which ranks second in program history.

Charles (71-70-76—217) shot under-par in the first two rounds to finish tied for 20th. Charles now has five top-25 finishes this season and seven in his career.

Alex Talbot (72-74-72—218) shot two-over across all three rounds to finish tied for 29th, the highest finish of his career. Nick Hedman (73-76-72—221) and Drew Reinke (73-76-72—221) shot identical rounds to each finish tied for 47th, rounding out the lineup for Boise State. Reinke competed in the second tournament of his Bronco career, recording his highest finish thus far wearing the blue and orange.

Up next Boise State travels to Eugene, Ore., for the Duck Invitational (March 21-22), at the Eugene Country Club.
