Boise State Rolls to 4-1 Win Over Utah State

RENO, Nev. - Boise State women's tennis defeated Utah State 4-1 Saturday afternoon to make it a clean sweep in Reno, Nev. With today's win and the Broncos' victory over Nevada on Friday, Boise State moved to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in Mountain West Conference play.
Boise State opened the match by dominating the doubles portion of the contest, winning 2-0, and may have swept all three if clinch play was not in effect.
Nicole Discenza and Joana Baptista claimed a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Pauline Ernstberger and Ana Conde Vendrell closed it with a 6-4 win on court 3. The No. 2 doubles match had Holly Stewart and Shauna Heffernan leading 6-5 when the contest was abandoned with the clinching of the team point.
Boise State followed up its success in doubles with three singles victories to take the match from the Aggies. Stewart defeated Zara Ryan 6-2, 7-6 on court three, while Conde Vendrell added a straight-set win at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-0. The final victory came from Bhakti Shah, who defeated Brooke Demerath in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The Aggies managed to win one of the six singles matches before the contest was stopped, with the Broncos winning 4-1.
Boise State will be on the road again next weekend when it travels to Logan, Utah, to face MW opponents New Mexico and Air Force.
