BOISE, Idaho – Boise State hit three home runs and Hannah Bailey won her third game during the weekend as the Broncos swept San Jose State with a 10-1 mercy-rule victory in five innings, Sunday.
Kelsey Lalor gave the Broncos (31-10, 10-5 MW) a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first with a towering home run to right field, her team-leading 11th of the season.
San Jose State (20-23, 6-12) scored its only run in 14 2/3 innings against Bailey (13-3) in the second inning to tie the game, but Boise State answered when Alison Seng walked in front of a two-run shot by Alycia Flores.
The Broncos scored three times in the third as Mykenzie Hanna and pinch hitter Kelsey Hall walked with the bases loaded and Seng was hit by a pitch to force in a run.
In the fourth, Lalor drove in a run with a single and Hannah blasted a three-run home run to increase the lead to 10-1.
Bailey tossed a four-hitter, Sunday and finished the weekend 3-0, including two complete games, and a 0.48 ERA.
The Broncos travel to Utah State for a three-game series, April 29-May 1.
