Broncos Win Two Titles at General Patton Invitational

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's tennis collected two championships this weekend at the General Patton Invitational hosted by the Broncos at the Appleton Tennis Center. Overall, the Broncos went 4-1 in doubles play and 8-6 in singles.

The first title came in doubles, where Jan Lucca Marquardt and Kyvan Rietkerk teamed up to go undefeated at 4-0. They beat Eastern Washington's Tyler Waddock and Arshjot Bhatti 6-2 in Sunday's final.

Rietkerk then followed that up by winning the Flight B singles championship, going 4-0 on the weekend and defeating Montana State's Dario Ciobotaru in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, to claim the title on Sunday. After winning his round of 16 match in three sets, he advanced to the final with a pair of straight-set victories in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds.

Marquardt took fourth in the Flight A singles competition. He opened the tournament with straight-set victories over Portland State's Jonas Mathiasen 6-3, 6-3 and Idaho's Mario Duron 7-6(2), 6-4, but fell to eventual champion Bodin Zarkovic of Utah State, 6-2, 7-6(4), in the semifinal round to move into the 3-4 match on Sunday.
